Who is Megan Fox, really? To hear her tell it, she’s just another libidinous, homebody, pot-loving, girl-crushing, insecure, one-man bad girl … or was she just kidding about all of that?

Though her resume is slim — two ‘Transformers’ movies and ‘Jennifer’s Body’ (on DVD and Blu-ray Dec. 29) are the highlights so far — and those roles were heavily defined by serving as eye candy, Fox has cannily created a media persona that is surely more compelling than anything she’s done on the big screen.

Fearlessly candid in interviews, Fox is by turns boastful, bored, impudent, and insecure, but always confessional. Wondering how she really feels about ['Transformers' director] Michael Bay? Interested in that affair with a stripper named Nikita? Curious about her libido? The answers are all a matter of record. While other starlets’ handlers are hurrying their clients past the press lines, Megan Fox stays and engages, delivering provocative quotes every time she opens her mouth.

The question is: does she mean everything she says? Or perhaps, does she mean anything she says? She has answered that question too, only we don’t know whether to believe her. So we’ll let her keep us guessing. Here are our favorites from 2009.

Always surprising the world with her words, Megan Fox feels different than most about Simon Cowell – she thinks he is hot!

“Simon is hot,” the Transformers star gushed over the British judge. “It’s the whole mean, powerful, British gent kind of thing.”

Meanwhile, the 23-year-old has had to deal with the fame. “Being a celebrity is like being a sacrificial lamb. At some point, no matter how high the pedestal that they [critics and audiences] put you on, they’re going to tear you down.”

Fox hopes that Hollywood won’t change her and added, “I created a character as an offering for the sacrifice. I’m not willing to give my true self up. The reality is, I’m hidden amongst all the insanity. Nobody can find me.”

Megan Fox is in trouble — women don’t want to see her act. This weekend’s New York Times Magazine follows our favorite crazy-quote spewing actress and her handlers as they try to figure out why this is.

Lynn Hirschberg’s profile is an interesting look at how the Transformer’s actress manipulated the media, skyrocketed to fame and is now sorta stuck.

“She created a rebellious, frankly sexual persona and talked her way into the limelight,” Hirschberg writes. But that persona doesn’t translate into ticket sales so her people are trying to “change the dialogue about Fox from the out-of-control sex bomb to the Fox they know, who is a homebody with a longtime boyfriend and a fondness for spending Saturday nights at Red Lobster, where she likes the cheese biscuits.”

Or as Megan sums up her main problem:

“Girls think I’m a slut, and I’ve been in the same relationship since I was 18. The problem is, if they think you’re attractive, you’re either stupid or a whore or a dumb whore. The instinct among girls is to attack the jugular.”

First, the slut image is her own doing, especially when her first big claim to fame was being in love with a stripper that never really existed and then all the bisexual talk. And second, that doesn’t have anything to with why girls hate her.

Megan has obviously found a character to play for men’s magazine interviews that works for her: “When I sit down to talk to men’s magazines, there’s a certain character that I play,” she tells the Times. But she hasn’t quite figured out how to talk to women and often comes off as contemptuous of them. She just writes all ladies off, like they’re jealous of her because she’s pretty and smart and sexy and confident and all women hate women anyway. Big sweeping statements like that just aren’t something women are going to respond to.

But Megan is at a turning point, and she and her handlers are working on a new image that will suit her career when she doesn’t have a giant robot fight movie supporting her. “I have to pull back a little bit now,” Megan says at the end of the article. “I do live in a glass box. And I am on display for men to pay to look at me. And that bothers me. I don’t want to live that character.”

We’ll just have to wait until the next round of movie press to see what character Megan does come up with.

Hollywood’s raven-haired beauty Megan Fox has edged out Britney Spears as the most googled person in Germany, according to the company’s “Zeitgeist 2009” list released this week.

The ten most popular German search categories were divided into people, images, popular products, news, and the “fastest-growing search words,” which was dominated by the rapidly rising popularity of social networks.

While Fox put ageing pop star Spears in second place for people searches, up-and-coming pop-diva Lady Gaga grabbed the number one spot in image-related searches, followed by vampire fantasy film “Twilight” star Robert Pattinson and the late King of Pop Michael Jackson. Fox was also in the top ten image searches for Germany, appearing in sixth place.

Yahoo has released its chart of the top ten most popular mobile search terms for 2009. In fact, it’s released two: one for the US and one for the UK.

Megan Fox reigns supreme at the top of the US list, with other celebrities including Michael Jackson (3rd), Rihanna (5th), and Lady Gaga (7th).

However, Mobile Games was the second most popular search for the year, which may give publishers added incentive to throw their weight behind their mobile sites and search marketing.

How about us Brits? The top Yahoo mobile search here was London, followed by Premier League and Big Brother. Katie Price was the top celeb in fifth place, with Michael Jackson in tenth. Read more to see the full lists.

According to News Post online, The Transformers star got a surprise gift for her boyfriend Brian Austin Green, a sports car by Ford, a Mustang fastback.

Fox was quoted by the Daily Star UK saying “It’s not his Christmas present but I just recently bought him a 1966 Mustang Fastback. It was actually on eBay… and I found one in really good condition that was beautiful.”

Green received the car when they reunited after a confirmed split of the couple in June of this year.
