While speaking with the Los Angeles Times recently, Shia Labeouf tried his best to explain why Megan Fox didn’t fit in on Michael Bay’s set.

Huntington-Whiteley is equipped for Bay’s brusque shooting style in a way that Fox was not, according to LaBeouf.

Megan developed this Spice Girl strength, this woman-empowerment [stuff] that made her feel awkward about her involvement with Michael, who some people think is a very lascivious filmmaker, the way he films women,” LaBeouf said. “Mike films women in a way that appeals to a 16-year-old sexuality. It’s summer. It’s Michael’s style. And I think [Fox] never got comfortable with it. This is a girl who was taken from complete obscurity and placed in a sex-driven role in front of the whole world and told she was the sexiest woman in America. And she had a hard time accepting it. When Mike would ask her to do specific things, there was no time for fluffy talk. We’re on the run. And the one thing Mike lacks is tact. Actor Dominic Monaghan struggled with his Megan Fox kissing scenes in Eminem and Rihanna’s Love the Way You Lie video – because he wanted to be respectful to the newlywed.

The Lord of the Rings star was thrilled when he learned he’d be making out with the actress in the promo – but admits he went to great lengths to try and make sure he didn’t upset her new husband Brian Austin Green.

Monaghan initially spoke to his co-star about what would be appropriate onset as they played passionate and fiery lovers and he felt the shoot went well.

But his best intentions were wrecked days later when the news of the video leaked and he was asked about the project.

He says, “I did all these interviews post the Eminem thing and they (reporters) said, ‘How was it kissing Megan Fox?’ And I said, ‘It was Ok, it was good’ – ‘cos I wanted to be respectful of their marriage.

“And then it came out that I was, like, non-plus about the fact that I was making out with Megan Fox, which wasn’t true; I had a great time, a very enjoyable time.”

And then the gay rumours started.

He adds, “It didn’t quash the gay rumours about (Lord of the Rings co-star) Elijah Wood and I.”

“She’s married. I have a lot of respect for marriage,” he said. “[The first thing I said to her was] ‘Look, I know that you’re married and I don’t want to do anything inappropriate.’ And she said, ‘It’s all kind of inappropriate, huh?’”

She may no longer be part of the Transformers film franchise, but Megan Fox hasn’t left genre films behind her. Fox stars opposite Josh Brolin in this weekend’s new release Jonah Hex, an action-heavy supernatural Western based on the DC comic.

IGN attended a press conference Sunday in L.A. with Fox, Brolin, director Jimmy Hayward and producer Andrew Lazar, during which time Fox spoke about her character in the film — a tough but tender frontier prostitute named Lilah — but was, quite diplomatically and uncharacteristically, mum about her recent departure from Transformers 3. Here’s what she had to say about working on Jonah Hex:

Q: Megan, what was it like to get away from those robots?

Megan Fox: I like working on action films, and I like working on movies that are comic book based, or that have this theme, because they’re things I watched or loved as a kid. So it wasn’t really about getting away from the robots, if that’s what you were saying. I enjoyed making both films.

Mickey Rourke has again praised co-star Megan Fox.

The 57-year-old, who worked with Fox on upcoming feature Passion Play, said that the actress was “great to work with – and to look at,” according to Splash News.

“It was nice working with someone who has a reputation for being beautiful, but who really did her homework. She was challenging to work with. People are going to have a different perception of her,” Rourke said of the Transformers star.

Rourke previously called Fox the “best young actress” he has ever worked with.
